Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States celebrates 20 years with the “Threads of Gold” themed Gift of Light Gift of Love tree-lighting event on November 8 at Northpark Mall in Joplin. The ceremony features dancers from Solomon Studio and the Missouri Southern State University Chorale, symbolizing the connection between families, donors, staff, and the medical community. The public is invited to attend and support through tree sponsorships.

The Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce and Region M Solid Waste Management District are hosting the second annual Shred-a-Palooza on November 10, from 9 am to noon at the Carl Junction Community Center. Residents and businesses can safely shred personal and business documents to protect against identity theft, with volunteers assisting and all shredded materials recycled. This free event welcomes all Four-State area participants.

Joplin is joining the national Chase the Chill movement, a free yarn bombing event where scarves are placed around town for anyone in need to take—no questions asked. Volunteers can donate scarves throughout November at local spots and help tag and hang them on December 8. The event spreads warmth and community spirit during winter’s coldest days.
