ASCENT Seeking Donations to Pay Off New Recovery House

In March 2008, ASCENT Recovery Residences began operating in a rented house in an undisclosed location. After 16 years, ASCENT purchased a house in August 2024.
Executive Director Teddy Steen said it was time to upgrade the house they were in for 16 years. Wanting something more updated for the men, the board members decided to investigate investing in buying a property, and it didn’t take long to find something.
“It is a little newer, and the guys love the house,” Steen said. “When a new guy walks in, he says, ‘Wow.’”
While the house may not be as extravagant as some of the other houses in recovery programs, that was intentional. Steen said the goal is for the guys to be in a house they can aspire to own one day. Seven people can be in the new house at one time. After their stint in the house, they move to another phase of the program in a different two-level house where privileges are restored. That house is a rental, and Steens says the landlord is great.
“Our goal with the new house was to fundraise to get it paid for,” Steen said. “Now, we are starting that process. We were able to take care of the down payment, and if we get it paid off, we can put those funds back into the program.”
From Steen’s asking letter:
At ASCENT, we believe every man deserves a chance to rise above his past and build a future he’s proud of. That’s why we created a faith-based environment, a place filled not just with beds and walls, but with hope, structure and second chances.
We have men who walk through the doors burdened by addiction, fear and the belief they’ve run out of options. Every day, we see those same men begin to rebuild themselves, piece by piece, through integrity, self-discipline, hard work and a renewed sense of purpose. With guidance, accountability and a community that refuses to give up on them, they learn how to become productive, confident members of society.
This program helps to reshape the hearts and futures of these men so they can return to their children, partners, families and communities with strength, honesty and love. They are given the tools to develop respect for themselves and others, build healthy relationships, gain vocational skills and foster a work ethic that carries them forward long after they leave our home.

ASCENT has recently purchased a new home to create a more home-like space for the men in the program, and the priority now is paying it off and continue offering a fresh start to those who need it.
Your support matters. If able, please donate and share with others. Together, we can create a place where hope, healing and second chances become real.
