Soroptimist International of Joplin celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Live Your Dream Awards program, which has distributed over $35 million to more than 35,000 women since 1972. The program provides flexible financial assistance to women who are primary household providers pursuing undergraduate degrees or vocational training, with local awards starting at $1,000.

The Pierce City Arts Council hosted its 14th annual Fall Festival on September 24 in South Park featuring artists, vendors, live entertainment, and new activities like Ozarks Knocker Ball. Faithful Friends Animal Advocates has operated as a no-kill shelter in Neosho since 2008, serving Newton and McDonald counties with 28 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels. The organization relies on volunteers like Mark and Bonnie Scott and community donations to provide care for animals awaiting adoption.

Adult Programming Librarian Derek Moser and Electronic Resources Librarian Jason Sullivan discuss their roles at Joplin Public Library, emphasizing community partnerships, relevant programming, and helping patrons navigate digital resources and databases. Both librarians focus on expanding public awareness of library services beyond traditional books, offering everything from book swap programs to financial databases and interlibrary loan services.

The TEN Tenors, an Australian ensemble of 10 vocalists who have captivated over 90 million listeners worldwide, will perform "Love Is In The Air" at Joplin High School on February 26 as part of Connect2Culture's Curtains Up Series. The performance celebrates love in all forms and follows their successful 2018 holiday show that drew over 1,000 attendees.

Jeff Majzoub rediscovered his love for cycling after moving back to Joplin in 1998, now riding six days per week and completing challenging races including the Tour of Flanders in Belgium three times. His passion stems from the simple joy of riding, whether training solo or racing with friends.

World-renowned jazz saxophonist Charles McPherson, born in Joplin in 1939, returns to his hometown for two February performances organized by Connect2Culture, including a fundraiser for a Black history mural and a free concert.
