Horses of Hope, a therapeutic riding center in Kansas and Missouri, transforms lives through equine-assisted programs that promote physical, emotional, and mental healing for individuals with disabilities. Co-founded by Shelly McColm and Vallerie Sweeten, the nonprofit relies on experienced horses, dedicated staff, and community support to deliver hope and healing.

For 75 years, the Lamar Free Fair has brought joy, tradition, and community spirit to Barton County. Founded by WWII veteran Bud Moore and still stewarded by his sons, Terry and Edwin Moore, the fair is the longest-running free fair in Missouri—a cherished week of parades, carnival rides, livestock shows, local food, and heartfelt reunions. With no entry or parking fees and over 40,000 visitors annually, the Lamar Free Fair is a true hometown celebration powered by volunteers and local pride.

For 20 years, the Ronald McDonald House of the Four States has provided a comforting home away from home for families of seriously ill children, offering vital support, resources, and community during times of medical crisis. With both a full-service house and a Family Room at Mercy Hospital, the organization continues to be a lifeline for families in their most challenging moments.
