Connect2Culture's April schedule at the Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex features three diverse performances: The Reminders (a Congo-inspired family band), Miss Jubilee & The Yas Yas Boys (St. Louis blues and jazz), and Piano Battle (interactive dueling pianists where audiences vote for the winner).

Sharon and Lance Beshore teamed up with Connect2Culture to host a cocktail reception honoring the local arts community on April 5. The event included happy hour and hors d’oeuvres at their home. Guests heard remarks from arts leaders, local officials, and Connect2Culture representatives.

The Fourth Annual Comedy for Camp was held on March 30 at Wilder’s Event Center to support Jasper County Foster Children. Hosted by Soroptimist International of Joplin, the event featured clean comedy by Dakoda Potter, Sean O’Brien, and Dave Dugan. Guests also enjoyed silent and live auctions along with appetizer and dessert bars.

Steve Holt retired after 30 years as Jasper County Collector, celebrated with a party at the Carthage Courthouse. Appointed in 1989, Holt also led state and national collector and finance organizations during his career.

The Fifth Annual March O’ the Kidney walk took place on March 9 at Northpark Mall to raise awareness and funds for kidney disease patients. The event supports the Freeman Dialysis Patient Assistance Fund, helping locals with medical and treatment-related costs.

The Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Business Expo drew over 2,300 attendees and nearly 100 vendors, making it their best event yet. Plans for the 2020 expo are underway, scheduled for March 13-14 to align with the local school spring break. Booth reservations will open soon.

The Carthage Chamber of Commerce held its annual Business Expo and Home Show on March 9, featuring dozens of local businesses with creative booths and giveaways. Sponsored by Mercy Hospital, SNC Squared, and Travel Inspirations, the event included a bottle auction with a salon makeover as the top prize.

The 22nd Annual Grand Lake Boat and Sport Show took place March 7-10 at the Grove Civic Center, offering families a chance to prepare for summer on Grand Lake. Attendees explored a wide variety of boats and received expert advice on maintenance, marinas, fishing, and local activities.

The Carl Junction Business Expo, themed “Disco Expo Inferno,” brought over 60 vendors and hundreds of attendees together on March 2 at the community center. Highlights included a flash mob performing The Hustle and big giveaways like an Echo Show and Atari Flashbacks. It was a fun ‘70s-themed event celebrating local business.
